  3. Land aboard a carrier without the aid of the Automatic Carrier Landing System. %n

  5. Procedures:  You will begin on a 10 mile final approach.%n
  6. % % % 1. Maintain heading and altitude while slowing the aircraft to 225 kias using%n
  7. % % % % % % idle power (1 or throttle full back) and speedbrakes (B).%n
  8. % % % 2. Once slowed to 225 kias lower the landing gear (G), select half flaps (H),%n
  9. % % % % % % and lower the arresting hook (Shift-W).%n
  10. % % % 3. Select ILS (Ctrl-/) and check your approach position.%n
  11. % % % 4. Select full-flaps (H) at 150 kias.%n
  12. % % % 5. As glideslope needle begins coming down pull back a small amount of your power%n
  13. % % % % % % and push your nose over slightly.%n
  14. % % % 6. Make small, controlled corrections.%n
  15. % % % 7. Call the Ball (Ctrl-B) at 3/4 mile or when advised by the LSO land your%n
  16. % % % % % % aircraft.%n

  18. Be gentle with the corrections.  If the approach begins to get out of hand, wave off and go around for another approach.%n
